December 2022
Loran Tang, recruiter and training coordinator of Children Ministry

As we wrap up the year of 2022, I can’t help praising God for His mercy, guidance and provision.

Unprecedented challenges

Since Children Ministry reopened different programs in September last year, we have faced tremendous and unprecedented challenges. While kids came back gradually, some helpers have not. With the pandemic still going on, we are sometimes suddenly short of manpower when helpers get sick and not able to come. Also, the new influx of immigrants have brought in abundant young families to BAC, which is a great blessings but also a challenge when our workers have stretched thin already.

At this point, I can’t help but think of our many faithful servants in Children Ministry. Eddie, who made so many efforts to grab handy resources and taught alone before Elementary Sunday School had a stable attendance to start “Go Curriculum”. Jennia, who attended to the Pre-school kids with her family every Sunday before we could recruit enough helpers for her. Winnie, who scrambled and coordinated helpers for two shifts of nursery rota on Sunday mornings. Mabel, who partnered with me to coordinate workers in Combined worship on top of her teaching and song leader’s roles! All of them so deserve our salute and deepest appreciation. May God reward them abundantly.

He knows our needs

Sometimes, waiting on God is like biting a bullet. However, we endured the hardship with hopes, knowing that our needs would be met! 2022 is really an amazing year to me. God provided me a few sisters from Mandarin congregation. Three are now helping in Preschool worship and one is helping in Combined Worship. I highlighted this because they represent a breakthrough from Mandarin side, which had a very low engagement in Children Ministry in the past because of the language barrier. We also have volunteers approached me and expressed their wishes to help in Sunday School, even without my invitation. Last but not least, Cheryl Li has joined Children Ministry as an Assistant Director. God is good. He knows and meets our needs.

Let’s Jump in

BAC Children Ministry has been an advocate for parents’ participation in their children’s spiritual journey. It is your involvement instead of signing them up to a program that speaks out your heart and value. When you participate into the programs, you get to know our teachers, helpers and what we are teaching and doing in the programs. Such understanding facilitates your interaction with us and with your kids and thus makes the partnership possible. At a difficult time like this, your participation is needed more than ever!

Starting January next year, we will invite parents to jump in our ministries and be part of the program(s) that their kids are signed up to. We will have a parents’ orientation meeting on Jan 28th, 2023 (Saturday) from 7:15 pm to 9pm. Cheryl Li will share our vision, new direction of Children Ministry and the details of “Let’s Jump In”. If you want to learn more about “Let’s Jump In”, please read the letters in English and Chinese versions attached in this blog. You can also email Cheryl and Joan anytime!! Most importantly, reserve your time and join our parents’ orientation meeting. That’s where we start to walk your kids’ spiritual journey in 2023!
