Welcoming and Supporting Refugee Families in the Lower Mainland.

New Hope provides housing and support services for refugee families as they transition into life in Canada. They own and operate a 13-unit apartment building in Surrey, BC and partner with community agencies to help refugee families access resources they may need.

Through our dedicated staff and generous volunteers, we provide support services such as language training, educational assistance, employment opportunities, and more. Moreover, we create a supportive, welcoming community for newcomers to gain their independence and thrive.

Praises and Prayers
  1. "I can volunteer to help translate. I will be a good Canadian!"

This month it's been fun to see residents helping with building repairs, serving meals at Surrey Urban Mission, crafting donor thank you cards, leading activities at kids club, and shovelling snow in our parking lot! We love building a community where everyone is invited to give and receive - may we all flourish in using our giftings to bless each other.

  1. "This pill is for daytime, this pill is for nighttime, this one is for only fever, this one is for only congestion."

Yesterday I had a knock on my door: "My mom is sick, which of these pills should she take?" When navigating life in a new country/language, there are so many things that are easier with a little bit of help. Please pray for all of the little and big daily challenges that our residents face - and for the right help to come when needed.

  1. "Thank you Mrs Ann for everything you did for New Hope we will miss and your sweet laugh May God grant you success."

If you read our announcement in our e-newsletter last month, you know that we need lots of prayer because our beloved Executive Director Ann Barnard Ball has stepped down. Please send up some big prayers for us in this time of transition - for Ann as she moves on, for me as I take on the role of Interim Managing Director, for our staff and board, and for God to clearly lead the right person to apply for the ED role! Maybe it's someone you know?!
