Devoted parents and committed volunteers matter most
Awana wrapped up the year with an Award Night on June 14, a special evening where our clubbers celebrated their achievements, and LITs and Leaders were recognized for their contributions and commitment.
With more than 100 clubbers participating every Saturday night, Awana presented its fair share of challenges over the past year. I’m especially grateful to all the leaders who have devoted themselves to supporting the clubbers during
handbook time. Without their dedication in guiding the kids through different sections, our clubbers could easily feel lost.
There’s no doubt that our kids have had countless moments of laughter and excitement in Awana. Game time is certainly a big draw for fun-loving children. However, BAC Children’s Ministry hasn’t poured its efforts and hard work into Awana just for game time. Our goal is to equip and train our kids in God’s word so they can grow in Christ. Awana is an excellent program that offers comprehensive biblical teaching through handbook and council time.
However, parental involvement is a crucial component of a child’s spiritual growth. Awana handbooks often require parents to complete tasks with their children in order to pass sections. Memorizing verses can be challenging, and
some kids may need extra support. When parents take the time to help their children recite verses and explain their meaning, kids come to Awana fully prepared and confident. This, in turn, helps our LITs and Leaders engage with
them more effectively.
Like all great programs, Awana is an incredible resource—but it takes devoted parents and committed volunteers to bring it to life! As we prepare to welcome kids to Awana in the new academic year, we ask parents, LITs, and Leaders to come together to support and engage our clubbers. Help them memorize and understand the verses in the handbook, share joyful moments with friends, and apply what they learn. After all, it’s not just the program—it’s the people who nurture and build up our kids!
We are always eager to welcome parents and spiritually mature adults to join our team. If you feel called to serve, please connect with us!
