Embracing Our Coming Christ
As we prepare for Christmas, we are once again reminded of Jesus’ sacrificial love and His salvation. If we are truly convicted that our pure and holy Creator came to die for us, then we have no other response but to dedicate our lives to follow Him—diligently and faithfully.
Regardless of the names or formats—Family Ministry, Blessing Groups, Children’s Ministry, or Small Groups—they are all ultimately designed for discipleship. In other words, we are being equipped to embrace our coming Christ.
In the past year, our focus was to engage our volunteers as we served together. Our goal was to ensure that they walked with God while serving in ministry. This will continue to remain one of the foundational pillars of our ministry.
In the coming year, we want to focus on Family Discipleship.
No matter what era we are in or how fads rise and fade, parents’ influence on their children remains the most significant. Many parents try to outsource their responsibility to Christian schools, church programs, or even peers, not realizing that their own faith and daily choices are the most critical factors in raising a godly child. These formative influences are already in your hands!
We want to empower BAC families in their children’s discipleship. As your partners, we strive to provide resources and opportunities so parents feel supported and equipped to lead their children to God.
With this goal in mind, Cheryl has prepared a parenting class (in Cantonese) during the Sunday School hour from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., running from December 7 to February 22. Her class will cover the biblical roles and mission of parents, characteristics of Generation Alpha, boundaries in parenting, our physical and mental health in the digital age, challenges unique to immigrant families, and living out our faith at home. This intensive and wide-ranging program will be recorded in both video and audio formats.
In addition, the Children’s Ministry will use various channels to communicate with parents in order to better understand your needs and challenges. We are also sourcing age-appropriate devotional materials to be shared through our children’s programs and with participating families. Your involvement—whether through conversations with us or by volunteering—is also a powerful way to help your children grow in Christ.
“As long as it is day, we must do the works of him who sent me. Night is coming, when no one can work.”
John 9:4
There will come a time when we can no longer work. In this Advent season, I urge you to respond to God’s reminder: seize every opportunity in the present and work together to bring our next generation to God!
