Brothers in Action – Part 1

I have invited two brothers, who serve in Awana as leaders, to share their serving experiences with us.
Let’s meet Bruce Ng this month!!

“Building young people is building the kingdom of God.” This line has been staying in my heart since I heard it from a sermon at BAC some years ago.

I had no idea of what’s AWANA until after coming to BAC. Before committing to serving as an adult leader, my wife and I went for an observation on a Saturday evening last year. That night, I saw kids with laughter, playing games and cheering for their peers.

What impressed me more was how teens (LITs) tried to engage the kids in different times and how they enjoyed being with other LITs, who they grew up with in AWANA.

In AWANA, I see cross-generational support. I also see how God uses all of us to help build His kingdom. I’m always humbled by how much our sparkies’ little brains can memorize. Not only do they learn the scripture during the handbook time, but I also learn from them. AWANA is where God tells me not to serve in the way I want, but the
way He wants.

So neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything, but only God, who makes things grow.(1 Corinthians 3:7 NIV)

Our work in AWANA is similar to planting and watering, and God is always the one who makes them as kids (and us as adults) grow.
